I sat down to write after working on the Bob Marley Song with a student of mine. I have always loved that song, but breaking it down was a masterclass on beauty and simplicity. The opening line is me literally trying to convince myself of Bob Marley’s message. “I know it’s easy to say, but harder to believe. Let your worries fall away, like the autumn to the leaves.” When I first started out, I thought I was writing a song for my son. And I did. But like everything, it quickly became apparent to me that it was about more. It was also about being a son. And a spouse. A sibling. A friend. And even a stranger. It is about trusting in the things that connect us all, even when they are difficult to see. I know, I know. Easy to say, harder to believe. I hope you enjoy. This is .

“Nothing Lost” Lyrics (by Eric Donnelly)
It’s easy to say, but harder to believe
Let your worries fall away, like the autumn to the leaves
We are right on time, right where we’re supposed to be
So put your little hand in mine, see what there is to see
You’ve got me, and I’ve got you
Nothing ever rang so true
Nothing Lost is ours to lose
You’ve got me, and I’ve got you
I look for you everywhere, stars at night the birds in the air
Crashing waves like a silent prayer, you are always there
You’ve got me, I’ve got you
Nothing ever rang so true
Nothing Lost is ours to lose
You’ve got me, and I’ve got you
My heart lives where you are
My heart lives where you are
My heart lives where you are
My heart lives where you are
You’ve got me, I’ve got you
Nothing ever rang so true
Nothing Lost is ours to lose
You’ve got me, and I’ve got you
I’ve got you
